Beds & borders topsoil is a screened blend enriched specifically for planting — it has added nutrients and organic matter to support healthy plant growth in flower beds, shrub borders and raised beds. Multipurpose topsoil is a general purpose screened soil suitable for landscaping, levelling, turfing and garden improvement. Both are delivered in bulk bags.
Peat-free compost is made without peat, using sustainable alternatives like composted bark, coir and green waste. It performs just as well as traditional peat-based composts for planting, potting and soil improvement, while being better for the environment. Our Organic Peat Free Compost is suitable for all garden use.
Horse manure mulch is a well-rotted organic mulch that enriches soil, improves structure and boosts plant growth. It's ideal for spreading on beds, borders and vegetable gardens in autumn or spring. It adds nutrients and organic matter, helping soil retain moisture and support healthy root development.
Horticultural grit (2–6mm alpine grit) is used to improve drainage in pots, containers and alpine beds. It prevents waterlogging around roots, which is especially important for succulents, cacti and alpine plants. It's also used as a decorative top dressing on pots and troughs.
Horticultural silver sand is a fine, washed sand used for improving drainage in heavy clay soils, as a seed-sowing medium, for lawn topdressing and in potting mixes. It helps break up compacted soil and improves aeration around plant roots.
Fine Grade Mixed Conifer Composted Bark is used as a soil conditioner, mulch and top dressing. It biodegrades faster than standard bark, actively improving soil structure, drainage and nutrient content as it breaks down. It's ideal for preparing beds for new planting and conditioning existing soil.

Yes, delivery is free to most mainland UK postcodes. There are a few exceptions for remote postcodes. Select your product and delivery option at checkout to see availability for your area.
Yes. Beds & borders topsoil is ideal for filling raised beds. For best results, mix it with compost or composted bark to improve drainage and nutrient content. Multipurpose topsoil can also be used but may benefit from additional organic matter for planting.
Autumn and spring are the best times. Autumn applications allow organic matter to break down over winter, enriching the soil ready for spring planting. Spring applications feed plants as they start growing. Horse manure mulch, composted bark and compost can all be applied at either time.
